The following article includes pertinent information that may cause you to reconsider what you thought you understood. The most important thing is to study with an open mind and be willing to revise your understanding if necessary.

Who said traveling and being a nurse can’t work together when there are a lot of job opportunities right now for those who experience in the market.

Traveling nurses are given the choice to work closer or farther from their home. If they accept an assignment, they have a chance to work in some of the country’s most prestigious health facilities, earn decent pay with bonuses and enjoy free living expenses.

Nurses who want to be a part of this have to sign up with a travel nursing company. In fact, there are many around and aside from your base pay, you get to have comprehensive insurance, a 401k plan, clinical support, an incentive program and the opportunity to further enhance your education.

To qualify, you must be a graduate from an accredited health care institution in the US or Canada and have a license. You should also have served at least a minimum of 12 months in your specialty.

If you qualify to be a traveling nurse, the company you will be working for will present a number of openings that are currently available. You don’t get to sign any long term contract with them since everything is done on a per project basis so iIf you find something you like, you may begin work in less than a week.

You also shouldn’t worry about getting a license to work especially if this will be in another state because the company you will be working for normally takes care of that.

Knowledge can give you a real advantage. To make sure you’re fully informed about Nursing Career, keep reading.

Traveling nurses work almost the same hours as a regular nurse. That is about 8 to 10 hours on each shift or 40 hours per week but there are some work 12 hours and work about 36 hours per week.

As for how much you make, this depends where you will be working and your specialty. Resident nurses for example are paid $40 per hour while licensed practical nurses earn a little bit lower. When you accept an assignment, you are usually given a sign on bonus that could reach up to $6,000 which isn’t that bad.

The money that you make as a traveling nurse is usually deposited in your current bank account so you don’t have to open a new one when you are working in another state. This will enable you to withdraw this at any time using your ATM card for shopping and other things.

It was mentioned earlier that housing as a traveling nurse is free. You will usually be housed in a two bedroom apartment or condo that is close to where you will be working. If you choose to live somewhere else other than what was given, you will get the housing allowance in the form of cash and you will be responsible taking care of the utilities.

If you want to succeed as a traveling nurse, you have to be optimistic, be open-minded and have the ability to learn things quickly. This is because your employer expects you to know what needs to be done since they assume you have already done this in the past.

You can stay as a traveling nurse for as long as you want and your experience will look good on your resume as this will probably make you stand out among other applicants when you want to find a permanent nursing job.

Of course, it’s impossible to put everything about Nursing Career into just one article. But you can’t deny that you’ve just added to your understanding about Nursing Career, and that’s time well spent.

The more you understand about any subject, the more interesting it becomes. As you read this article you’ll find that the subject of Nursing Career is certainly no exception.

Nursing is a noble profession. Without these people, no one will be able to look after the patient when the doctor is not available. It should be pointed that there is a shortage of nurses in the US. The government for its part has hired foreign nationals to fill the gap but this is not enough to solve the problem. This is why knowing some facts about a career in nursing could probably encourage students in high school or maybe even in college to make that shift.

1.Entry level nurses earn a lot more than what other professionals earn after graduating from college. One report shows that they get an average of $45,000 a year compared to accountants who only get about $41,000.

2.Unlike other courses that will require the student to get a degree in 4 years, nurses can graduate and find work after 2 years. These programs area namely an Associate Degree in Nursing or AND as well as the Hospital Diploma. Students of these two programs can go back to school later on to further their studies by getting a Bachelor of Science in Nursing or BSN.

3.Nurses may also find work in places other than the hospital. These include schools, correctional facilities, private companies, research labs and homes since only three out of five registered nurses work in a hospital.

4.For the country, majority of nursing jobs are occupied by women despite an increase of 5.4% of males that have joined the workforce. But in the U.S. military, one third of those serving are men.

5.In the US, the ratio between registered nurses and doctors is 4:1. Aside from providing the usual health care services to patients, they also teach patients about prevention and work in other fields such as cardiac, family health, gynecology, neonatal, neurology, oncology, pediatrics and other advance clinical specialties.

Once you begin to move beyond basic background information, you begin to realize that there’s more to Nursing Career than you may have first thought.

6.Nurses work between 8 to 10 hours per shift because the risk of an error happening are greater if they work longer than 12 hours.

7.The reason why the government has to fill the shortage of nurses is to lower the incidence of adverse outcomes with patients. For instance, one study has shown that if the number of registered nurses in a hospital is not increased, there will be a rise in the number of patients who will suffer from lung failure, pressure ulcers and urinary tract infections.

Those with higher resident nurse staffing will have lower rates of adverse patient outcomes enabling them to be discharged later on without further incident.

8.Apart from a shortage in trained nurses, there is also a shortage in nursing faculty. After years of working in a hospital setting, such individuals can apply in schools to teach what they know to the bunch of hopefuls who want to make a difference in the lives of the patients.

The facts mentioned about nursing just goes to show that nurses play a vital life saving role in the overall healthcare system of the country. Doctors which we have a lot of can only do so much and they need the help of trained professionals to follow through what they have done to treat a patient.

If you have the desire to help people, then perhaps you should see if a nursing career is right for you.

This is the reason that some decide to go back to school to enroll in a new course or even pursue a master’s or doctorate degree.
For those that cannot afford tuition, they can apply for aid, a loan or scholarship if this is offered by the school. If you still want to work while studying at the same time, you can ask if there are part time courses available or classes held at night.

So what is Nursing Career really all about? The following report includes some fascinating information about Nursing Career–info you can use, not just the old stuff they used to tell you.

When you graduate from nursing school and pass the state licensure exam, you can start applying for work. While some will work in a hospital, others may find employment in labs, schools, private companies and non-profit organizations. This is when your nursing career choices are available to you.

The nice thing about being a nurse is that wherever you work, everyday is different than the day before. Why? Because of the human factor as new patients are brought in and old ones are discharged. This means that in the field of nursing, you will never get tired because change is always constant.

Let’s take a look at the two nurses. One who is a resident nurse or RN and the other a licensed practicing nurse or LPN. Yes, they are both nurses but what makes the two different is the fact that the RN is a specialist while the LPN is a generalist.

The LPN reports to an RN. This is the person that makes the rounds and takes the patient’s blood pressure and temperature. They administer shots and monitor the catheters. The resident nurse can do the same thing but they are more concerned about other things which is why they have the opportunity to work for instance in ambulatory care, diabetes management, cardiac and vascular nurse, dermatology, HIV/AIDS, oncology, pediatrics and a lot more.

If you don’t want your career to be stagnant as an LPN, you can go to school and work at the same time until you are able to earn your degree and finally earn the title of a resident nurse.

If you base what you do on inaccurate information, you might be unpleasantly surprised by the consequences. Make sure you get the whole Nursing Career story from informed sources.

Another career choice that can you places is by being a nurse practitioner. Being in this position allows you to perform many of the functions that doctors do that includes prescribing medication. They handle the most common illnesses as well as provide counseling and prevention. For this you need to get a master’s in nursing. A study shows that NP’s make an average of about $61,000 per annum.

Since we are talking about advanced degrees, another career choice is that of the nurse anesthesiologist. When a patient is undergoing surgery, this person is there to make sure the right dosage is given so the operation is painless. This is considered to one of the highest paying nursing jobs today.

Heart disease is one of the leading causes of death in the US. While there are steps being taken to reduce these figures, there are still patients that have to be treated and that is where cardiac care nursing comes in. Cardiac care nurses work with doctors as they perform angioplasty, bypass surgery or install pacemakers. They work in the hospital and at times conduct house calls.

Some patients require long term care. For that, you need a case manager nurse that will keep track of the patient’s condition at the same time in a cost effective matter. These individuals usually help the young and the elderly who are suffering from illnesses such as AIDS, cancer or heart disease.

There are other nursing careers aside from those mentioned. What happens after you graduate will determine how successful you will become in the future. Nurses who want to go on further are advised to take up advance courses in nursing and then specialize in a particular field.

Have you ever wondered if what you know about Nursing Career is accurate? Consider the following paragraphs and compare what you know to the latest info on Nursing Career.

Making a career of nursing is rewarding because you get to help others. Once you graduate, you get to join more than 2.5 million registered nurses all over the country and this number is still growing as there is a shortage that needs to be filled.

What makes nursing so interesting is that you get to combine science and technology with care and compassion. If you think you learned everything there is to know in school, you are wrong because you are able to learn new things when you are on the job and there are advanced courses you can take to make you better.

In general, nurses assist in bringing babies into the world and give advice to the new mothers after childbirth. They also help people recover from sicknesses and conduct physical examinations. For those that are suffering from a terminal illness, they help the family accept the fact that their loved one will soon pass and go to a better place.

The nurse does not only follow the directions given by the doctor. At times, they assess the patient’s emotional state, lifestyle and physical condition so they know what else needs to be done to help the person recover. They also help in the planning process because they are the ones who are in constant contact with the patient.

When the plan has been made, it is up to them to put this into effect. For patients that will be discharged from the hospital, they can teach the patient or a family member how to change the dressing or what exercises need to be done to improve their physical condition after undergoing surgery.

If the plan that was implemented doesn’t work, this is the time that the nurse should review what was done in the past and make the necessary adjustments.

You may not consider everything you just read to be crucial information about Nursing Career. But don’t be surprised if you find yourself recalling and using this very information in the next few days.

One of the things people think about before applying for a job is how much they can earn. According to one survey, entry level nurses earn about $45,000 annually which is much more than what accountants or teachers earn. You make more when you work overtime and as you gain experience, naturally how much you will be earning increases.

For those who take advance studies, you can expect to earn a lot more. Nurse anesthetists for instance make about $113,000 while practitioners make an average of $71,000.

If ever you get tired helping patients in hospitals, you can find work in a home care, community health clinic, outpatient surgery centers, long term care centers, corporate health centers, research facilities, schools, international service organizations like the Peace Corp and in insurance companies.

You can continue doing here what you used to do in the past or wok as educators, consultants, instructors, inspectors and researchers.

To help you get started on this career, you need to have a high school diploma with a sufficient score in your GED. Aside from the SAT, you will have to take the NLN pre-admission exam. If you happen to pass, only then will you be able to go to a nursing school and get classroom instruction on various subjects before you have the opportunity to get hands on experience with a patient.

There are three types of programs which you can choose from to jumpstart your nursing career. Choose the one that interests you the most and then make the most out of it.

That’s how things stand right now. Keep in mind that any subject can change over time, so be sure you keep up with the latest news.

Nursing is a very good profession. There is demand, the pay is quite good, the health benefits are okay, and there are a lot of specializations that you can go to in case you get tired of being stuck in one practice. One interesting opportunity is a career in psychiatric nursing.

What is a psychiatric nurse? This is a nurse that works in the psychiatric ward or mental health department of a hospital or medical facility and whose primary function is to take care and evaluate patients who display conditions and symptoms of psychiatric disorders. Also included in their scope are conditions brought about by substance abuse problems. So you can see that the scope of a psychiatric nurse’s job is not as limited as the title signifies.

Together with the doctors in the department, it is often part of the psychiatric nurse’s responsibilities to create a series of treatment plans that would help manage the conditions of each patient in the ward. Aside from the regular work of nurses, there are opportunities to work as researchers and even consultants on the field of psychiatry and psychiatric treatments. Often, they also serve as buffer or a support pillar for the families of the patients, explaining to them the conditions and the treatments involved.

There are certain steps that one has to undertake if he/she wants to be a psychiatric nurse. Because of the responsibilities involved, a psychiatric nurse is often required to take more courses as preparation to the tasks they will be handling. A masters degree or even a doctorate can be sometimes required or if not will definitely become handy in landing a better position.

Knowledge can give you a real advantage. To make sure you’re fully informed about Nursing Career, keep reading.

To be more specific, the delegation of tasks can be divided into basic and advanced. The basic responsibilities of an entry level psychiatric nurse include working with the patients, their families, the community if possible and the support groups. It is also a basic requirement that nurses will be able to assess the mental health of patients, create nursing plans of action, and can put the necessary treatment plans into practice.

The next level would be the advanced level where an advanced level of education is necessary. This is where the masters degree specializing on psychiatric nursing will be required. With their education and experience, psychiatric nurses in the advanced level are expected to diagnose and treat patients and their families that manifest psychiatric disorders. They also do some important administrative work by keeping in touch with researchers, colleagues in the private sector in order to develop programs that would be agreeable to the general regulations of the hospital.

In this field nurses can still choose a specialization. There are still different fields of study in psychiatry. There’s psychiatric nursing for the elderly, for teens, and for children. There’s also the field of substance abuse and, of course, the field of forensics.

If we’re going to talk about the remunerations involved in a psychiatric nursing, the amount really depends on the skills, education and experience of the nurse. The location and kind of hospital is also part of how much a career in psychiatric nursing will make.

Nurses with more education and experience under their belt will normally earn more. Psychiatric nurses will continue to be in demand in the near future.

The following article covers a topic that has recently moved to center stage–at least it seems that way. If you’ve been thinking you need to know more about it, here’s your opportunity.

There is a shortage of nurses in the United States. While this has allowed foreign workers to apply for jobs, this is not sufficient to fill the gap as some states are still understaffed.

For people who want job security, to earn a decent wage and the satisfaction knowing that they have helped somebody, perhaps a nursing career is the right thing to do. To give you an idea, here are some of types of nursing jobs you can get into.

One of the most common jobs to get into is that of a registered nurse or RN. Their job is to assess the needs of the patient, develop and implement the plan and maintain medical records. In some cases, they also inform the patient and others about disease prevention.

For those that want this job, they have to graduate from nursing school and pass the state licensure exam. This is different for each state so if you plan to work in another state, you have to check if your current license allows you to work there.

Another job is that of the licensed practical nurse. This person works under the direction of a registered nurse or a doctor. If you have ever been confined in the hospital, they are the ones that come in your room and check on your blood pressure, temperature. At times, they may even get a blood sample from you.

The licensed practical nurse is also the one that greets you when you arrive at the doctor’s office. They make sure everything is running smoothly as well as take care of paperwork and the filing of the patient’s medical records.

I trust that what you’ve read so far has been informative. The following section should go a long way toward clearing up any uncertainty that may remain.

The nurse practitioner is another and their primary function is to act as a care giver. These professionals are the first ones that diagnose a patient and treat their illness or injury. They can prescribe certain medications but this varies per state.

They also have secondary responsibilities that include anesthesiology, midwifery and other clinical responsibilities.

You don’t become a head nurse overnight. This happens after years of experience which will enable you to set up work schedules, assign different duties to the staff and make sure that each member of your team is trained to do their job. They are the ones in charge of a hospital wing that make sure all the files are updated and there is sufficient stock of equipment and other supplies on hand.

The nursing aide otherwise known as nursing assistants are the ones who clean the room when the patient has left, serve meals, deliver messages, bathe, feed and dress the patient. They also do some of the work done by a nurse practitioner and escort the patient to the operating room, recovery room until they are sent back to their own room. This person may also be called upon to assist in some procedures.

Apart from helping around in the hospital, they should keep an eye on the patient so any emotional or physical conditions can be reported to the nurse of the doctor.

The kind of nursing career you choose depends on what type of nursing education you get. You can go for a two to a four year program then obtain your license. For those that want to go farther, they should take further studies like a master’s or a doctorate degree so they can work as educators, consultants or instructors.

The type of nursing course you take will determine your career because of the kind of training you get. For instance, those who graduate with a Bachelor of Science in Nursing will automatically become resident nurses once they also pass the state licensure exam or NCLEX.

Resident nurses straight out of college will report to a resident nurse preceptor. This person is the one that will give them their respective assignments and the RN’s in turn will show them their skills in assessing the needs of the patient so a plan can be developed and implemented.

After years working as an RN, you can go back to school and attain a higher degree so you too can become a resident nurse preceptor in charge of a wing or find work elsewhere like working as an instructor in nursing school or as a researcher for a private company.

Students who don’t want to study for four years can earn a degree in half the time by getting an Associate Degree in Nursing also known as AND or a hospital diploma.

For the associate degree, you can soon find work in a health facility as a licensed practical nurse or as a licensed vocational nurse. In the chain of command, this person reports to the registered nurse who’s task is to do the rounds and check on the patient’s blood pressure and temperature. They may also be called upon to get a blood sample.

Most of this information comes straight from the Nursing Career pros. Careful reading to the end virtually guarantees that you’ll know what they know.

Depending where you decide to work, you may also be employed as the personal assistant of a physician. At this job, you welcome patients that visit the clinic, handle clerical duties and other things that may be ask of you by the doctor.

The salary difference between an RN and a LPN is quite big. If you want to earn more, you can go back to school part time or full time so you can graduate with a BSN.

Those who take the hospital diploma can find work as a nursing aide. Your job is to escort the patient when he or she needs to be examined by the doctor, serve the meals, bathe and dress the patient as well as clean the room. You don’t need a license to do that kind of work but if you want to earn more, perhaps after a few years you can go back to school and work for a BSN or AND.

When you get your nursing degree, you can either work full time or part time. Full time nurses work 40 hours a week while part timers work 20 hours a week. Resident nurses who have a lot of opportunity may even find employment on a contractual basis which allows them to travel at the same.

Nursing is high demand for a lot of reasons and one of them happens to be due to the shortage of qualified personnel. If you think that nursing will be good for you in the long term, get into it for the right reason and money is shouldn’t be one of the motivators as this will come in later.

You must have the desire to help those who are in need because if you are happy with what you are doing, you will be successful regardless of your position in the healthcare system.

It never hurts to be well-informed with the latest on Nursing Career. Compare what you’ve learned here to future articles so that you can stay alert to changes in the area of Nursing Career.
